HOMEPAGE:

Vážený příteli, pokud chceš číst česky, prosím přejdi na konec, za anglicky psaný text.

(Some remarks in Czech are put below the English text)

Dear friend,

Thank you that you are looking at my HAM WEB pages now.

Something about me:

I was born in Prague in 1947 (in former Czechoslovakia, the Czech Republic /Czechia/ now). I am already retired (electro engineer) but I still work in part time for a Czech – American private company based in Prague (the city of Praha). I have been married for about 37 years and have 2 adult sons. I live in the city of Prague but work on HAM bands from my modest country cottage and land (possibility for free installing antennas) located in a forest about 20 kilometers (12.5 miles) south from the city border (south south west – LOC: JN79DT).

About my QTH: You can see my neighborhood there in the photograph on the front side of my QSL card (large woods and hills) in the Photogallery. That area names the Brdy (the top of the highest mountain is 885 meters above see level /ASL/ - it is about 20 km far from my QTH). The ASL of my QTH is about 400 meters. There are practically no industrial and city QRM and no local stations there.

By the way Prague (Praha in Czech /with its more than 1000 years history and about 1.286.000 inhabitants now/) is a pretty, historical city. You can find some photographs of the city at http://www.krasyprirody.cz/Praha/ . The city has a nice neighbor countryside (the Vltava river /it runs also through the city/ and the Berounka river, woods, rocks and hills).

I have been a HAM since 1961 (SWL OK1-21336) when I was a boy. I obtained my first HAM license (OL1AAG) in 1964 and my nowadays callsign (OK1DN) in 1966. I was very active on HF HAM bands at the end of the 1960’s and at the beginning of the 1970’s. In 1972 I took part in a HAM operation (JT0KOK) from Mongolia.

I started my “new” active HAM era (after a long break) in 2000 from my QTH described above.  I have been active on all HF HAM bands again since that time. I also work on 2 meters (144 MHz) from time to time (IC746 and 7 element Yagi by DK7ZB).

My membership in HAM organizations:

Czech Radio Club (ČRK - Český radioklub http://www.crk.cz/ENG ), FIRAC (railway people and railway friends /that’s also me/ http://www.firac.de/ ).

My 160 to 10 meter band rig has its output power 300 Watts CW. By the way CW is my main and favorite mode but I work also on SSB from time to time. My rig (TRX ICOM IC746 /with additional IF CW and SSB crystal filters/, PA /solid state HF power amplifier/ AMERITRON ALS500M XCE and automatic antenna tuner MFJ-994) is described in an article which is mentioned hereinafter. The article was written in February 2010 and published in Czech HAM magazin  "Radioamater / 3 - 2010/" (Control of IC746 with external Power Amplifier AMERITRON – it was published in Czech language of course). You can find the English version of the article on WEB pages of Czech Radio Club: http://www.crk.cz/FILES/IC746_CONTROL_PA_AMERITRON_5.PDF

I also use “clear” transceiver IC746 (power about 80 W) and 4 element Yagi antenna for 6 meters (it is really the magic band and it is very interesting to work there).

My HF antennas: Long wire for 1,8 and 3,5 MHz

                            Vertical dipole for 7 MHz

                            Sloped dipole for 10 MHz

                            Spider beam for 14, 18, 21, 24 and 28 MHz

4 element Yagi for 50 MHz (the first VHF band as somebody says)

Some photographs of my antennas, HAM shack and my HAM companion (and my supervisor from time to time) / the female of Bolognese dog - Aghaya/ you can find in the Photogallery.

I hope to meet you on the HAM bands soon.

                                                                   October 4th, 2010

Bližší informace a své zkušenosti rád sdělím e-mailem (adresy v "Contact us").

Prodám TRX ICOM IC-746 s filtry FL-232 (350 Hz - CW) a FL-223 (1,9 kHz - SSB), ant. tuner, příslušenství. K TRXu „bytelná“ dřevěná přepravní bedna (na QTH/p). Nutný osobní odběr vč. přezkoušení.

+++++++ PRODÁNO +++++++++

Deleting a part of my HAM WEB pages

03/11/2017 12:05
Because of the fact that I have operated my HAM WEB pages for about 7 years and a part of information has not been topical yet I have decided to reduce the pages. So I am deleting a part of news and photographs now.

Yesterday morning I visited the HAM fest of Holice 2017 (August 25th and 26th) as ordinarily every year. I met old and new HAM friends from OK, OM, DL, SP and LY there. I also bought same parts on the HAM flea market and some CDs at Slovak Radio Club stand (Slovak HAM Meeting TATRY 2015 and...

SFI=68 .....

28/07/2017 09:44
This morning (July 28, 2017) the SFI was only 68 (it was almost absolute minimum).  MUF (3000 km) was about 11 MHz at 0639 UTC - according to the Ionospheric Observatory in Pruhonice u Prahy (near Prague). The 20 meter CW band was almost empty in the morning (only a few European stations and...

My QRP operation

10/06/2017 14:30
Propagation Conditions (especially for DX) are very poor nowadays (SFI has been under 79, there are almost no spots on the Sun, MUF about 16,5 MHz etc.). I am afraid that it will last over life of my generation.  But fortunately - I have worked with about 325 DXCC countries from this...

RETRO TX QRP - new version

05/05/2017 16:08
Because of the fact that the new (WARC) band of 60 meters has not been allowed by the Czech Authorities for OK HAMs I decided to retune the TX from 5,5 to 7 MHz. Now I operate (from time to time) also on 7 MHz band with the RETRO TX QRP (power 5 Watts). You can see the Block Diagram on Picture...

New band 60 meters (5 MHz) in the Czech Republic

30/01/2017 19:04
The new WARC band 5 MHz (5351,5 to 5366,5 kHz) will not be open for OK HAMs in 2017.  According to “Radioamater 1/2017” (magazine of the Czech Radio Club): The Czech Telecommutions Office says that OK HAMs can still use a few channels (from 5272.5 to 5405.0 kHz)  when they have obtained...

Member of OK QRP Club

15/10/2016 15:39
I became a member of OK QRP Club (No.: 712). The main reason: Nowadays I frequently operate my RETRO TX QRP on 80 meters CW. Its output power is only 5 Watts. I must say that it is very funny for me. I can add that on October 13, 2016 at about 2000 UTC I worked even with VK3CWB. His RST was 559 and...
